Dr. Lea-Der Chen, Ph.D: Dr. Chen received his Ph.D in Mechanical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, 1981. He currently serves as Associate Dean of Engineering and Computing Sciences at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi where his role is to grow and strengthen the Engineering program. He provided a major leadership role when he served as Site Director and Director of the NSF IUCRC Center for Virtual Proving Ground (IUCRC VPG). He directed the research and development effort of the University of Iowa site to develop technologies for ground vehicle virtual proving grounds at a fidelity level enabling design considerations. Major industrial partners for his work included the US Army TACOM TARDEC, Deere & Co., and Caterpillar. The IUCRC VPG also worked closely with CADSI (currently LMS CAE) in technology transfer of numerical algorithms for obtaining accurate solution to differential algebraic equations of multi-body dynamics. Dr. Chen also served as Director of the National Advanced Driving Simulator (NADS) at the University of Iowa, where he directed research and development efforts that supported the mission of National Highway Traffic Safety Agency (NHTSA) of the U.S. Department of Transportation. The NADS staff successfully worked with NHTSA through the design, implementation, testing and validation, calibration and improvement phases, the world’s then most sophisticated driving simulator for ground vehicles that was established at the University of Iowa. A few of his published journal articles are "Condensation of Submerged Vapor Jets in Subcooled Liquids;” "Structure of Turbulent Reacting Gas Jets Submerged in Liquid Metals;" and "Visualization of Jet Flames." He has co-authored two patents:

That being said, Dr. Chen is working on the heat transfer for InnerGeo’s innovative geothermal wells.

Dr. Chen was an early contributor to InnerGeo's Patented Geothermal design and wrote a mathmatical model of the potential power out put of the well design.  He has also been most valuable with many of the great technologies coming out of InnerGeo.
